|

"After months of learning, consulting and deliberating, the province’s first Citizens’ Assembly decided to recommend a new electoral system for Ontario: Mixed Member Proportional."

What do you think? The right decision? With 60% of voters in 60% of provincial ridings having to vote in favour in the referendum, how do you rate the chances of the recommendation passing? |

It probably should have been higher then 3% threshold as its conceivable some one issue whack job party could get that some day. I'd have rather seen the ridings expanded so there wasn't as big an increase in the numbers too.
But I really don't think there is any chance of meeting 60%. The north and rural ridings currently over represented by population will be heavily against I'd guess. Not in the interest of the two main parties. The old folk tend to be largely resistant to such change. I predict a BC repeat |
