Pesticide Reduction Kingston
Pesticides Reduction Kingston (PRK) is an ‘umbrella’ educational and advocacy group made up of local residents & community organisations. We are all working to reduce the pesticides in our community. Our aim is to encourage property owners, residents, corporations and the City of Kingston to use pest and weed control methods which are safer for the environment. We are therefore working to ensure that the City of Kingston passes (and enforces) a bylaw, similar to the City of Hudson’s 1991 bylaw, to limit the private cosmetic use of pesticides.

Food Down the Road
Food Down the Road is a broad and diversified movement that seeks to build a local food system that can nourish us all in the future.
Based out of Kingston and countryside, Food Down the Road has emerged from years of work by the National Farmers Union (NFU) and others on sustainable farm and food issues in the area.
Initiated in December 2006, Food Down the Road has succeeded in organizing several major events in 2007 which include a four-part Spring Speaker Series and a Local Food Summit in the autumn. A Community Council has also been created to help identify future directions including the creation of a Food Charter.
Hundreds of people have participated in these dynamic initiatives, and we hope to keep the momentum rising. Through visioning, researching, educating, advocating and building partnerships, Food Down the Road is a vibrant community movement building a more vital and sustainable local food system.
